Inspired by the Italian volcano Mt. Vesuvius that wiped out the city of Pompeii centuries ago, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples is hosting “In the Volcano: Cai Guo-qiang and Pompeii” until May 20, 2019, curated by Jérôme Neutres. The exhibition of the Chinese artist known for his work made with gunpowder features a video of the artist’s Explosion Studio at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii, which kicked off the exhibition on February 21, 2019. Cai’s work connects the past and present as well as East and West in this exhibition. For more information, visit https://www.museoarcheologiconapoli.it/en/.
