Yue Minjun, a renowned contemporary Chinese artist, is venturing into the digital art space with his inaugural Web3 project, “Kingdom of the Laughing Man”. The collection of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) will be launched on LiveArt, a Web3 platform for art and culture.

Minjun’s works, recognized for their unique self-portraits, have been auctioned worldwide and are part of the permanent collections of institutions such as SFMoma, Denver Art Museum, and The Culture Centre of Francois Mitterrand. He has also collaborated with artists like KAWS and fashion brands like COMME des GARÇONS.

The “Kingdom of the Laughing Man” collection will kick off with “Boundless”, a generative collection of 1,200 unique NFT artworks. Holders of the “Boundless” collection will have the opportunity to order unique physical prints signed by Minjun, based on the NFTs they own. Future releases will include 3D animated art and an immersive metaverse experience.

Minjun expressed his excitement for the project, stating, “This new digital frontier excites me as I can bring my art to life in a way that I haven’t been able to with physical media. In Web3, I can create a new engaging experience and relationship with the next generations of art collectors.”

Boris Pevzner, CEO and Co-Founder of LiveArt, said, “Yue Minjun is a significant contemporary artist to commit fully to a Web3 journey today, and we are excited for the opportunity we can offer our collectors.”

The first drop of “Kingdom of the Laughing Man” is set to launch on August 8 on LiveArt.
