National Gallery Of Victoria Creates Open Access Program

The National Gallery of Victoria is acquiring new audiences in China — regardless of their location — and increasing reach to important artworks thanks to a five-year digitization program, called Open Access, which allows the public to get a hold of thousands of high-resolution images of artworks from the NGV Collection. Significant masterpieces such as Giambattista Tiepolo’s The Banquet of Cleopatra 1743−44, Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa c. 1830 and Emma Minnie Boyd’s Interior with figures, The Grange 1875 can be easily downloaded for non-commercial and scholarly use from the NGV website (available in Chinese). The online collection is further enhanced by the NGV App, which provides a guide to navigating the gallery’s collections, programs and exhibition spaces.
