While the majority of the United States is stuck in doors, escaping the Polar Vortex, residents and visitors to San Diego will be outside, basking in the desert sun, at the 9th annual San Diego Lunar New Year Festival. Held at the Southeast corner of SDCCU (Qualcomm) Stadium, February 1st-3rd, this year’s celebration features an array of dazzling Chinese lanterns, lion dances, carnival rides, and plenty of firecrackers, as well as a tasty assortment of Asian food. And don’t forget to pickup your lucky coin tucked in a bright red envelope. Giving a red envelope with money is a Chinese New Year tradition, symbolizing good fortune and luck for the New Year. No wonder some 25,000+ attend annually.
